Friends' association

Since 1937, the Friends of the Siegerland Museum and the Upper Castle e.V. have supported, in accordance with its statutes, the care and expansion of the collections of the Siegerland Museum in the Upper Castle, which was founded in 1905. From the very beginning, the museum has held a firm place within the museum landscape of the Siegerland region and, with its regional history and art-historical collections, has developed into a regional museum known far beyond the borders of the Siegerland.

This would not have been possible without the cooperation and generosity of numerous interested and committed citizens, many of whom are or have been organized in our association.

Key highlights of the collection areas relating to Peter Paul Rubens and the House of Nassau-Orange are permanent loans from our association. The association’s main focus is on providing financial support for the acquisition of artworks, as well as for the restoration of objects intended to be preserved for future generations. In addition, we regularly support projects and exhibitions at the museum, such as the purchase of display cases, the “ZEIT.RAUM Siegen” project, and the museum’s new website.

Much remains to be done. The association therefore relies on your support—whether through membership, monetary or object donations, or professional assistance. Only through the intellectual and financial engagement of its members can the Friends’ Association ensure that the Siegerland Museum in the Upper Castle maintains its position within the museum landscape as a place dedicated to the history of our region, and that it preserves its quality and attractiveness even in times of increasingly limited public funding.
